Here are my favorite insights from spending time with Will in the latest video we just published...
You don’t need to hit every shot perfect to shoot good scores. Coach Will always talks about how most golfers think they have a technique problem but really, they have a tension problem.
“Golf isn’t mental. It’s emotional. Most golfers are anxious, tight, and frustrated.”
🎯 The Scoring Method
Get inside 100 yards in regulation. That’s two shots on a par 4, three on a par 5. You’re not trying to hit greens - you’re trying to get to your scoring zone.
Get down in three from there. Wedge on, two-putt, move on. “If you make 18 bogeys, you shoot 90. You don’t need birdies, you need to avoid doubles.”
Track checkmarks, not score. A check for every hole where you hit the zone and got down in three. 18 checks = mid-80s golf, even with slices and chunks.
Smart-Golf Habits
Play for good misses. Aim away from danger. Choose passive targets and swing aggressively.
Bring 3-4 clubs to every green. Saves time, chose smarter chips / wedge shots, and play the easy shot.
Lag putt like it matters. Will says pace control “covers all sins.” Focus on speed, not line.
Pick simpler shots. Confidence and freedom are built from commited choices, not perfect swings.
Huge thanks for Coach Will for sharing with us again!!! If you want to learn about everything he teaches in the scoring method, here's the link to learn more.

⛳️ The ASU wedge range is amazing. Take a peak at this. Why can't all driving ranges do something like this 😭
☕️ Beau Hossler is fascinating. From leading the 2012 U.S. Open at the Olympic Club at the age of 17... And now coffee and what he learned from ayahuasca.

Inside 100 Yards with Russell Henley
Really enjoyed this video with Me and My Golf, chatting with Russell Henley. I didn't know this before watching, but he's ranked number one in the world from 75 to 100 yards. I jotted down some notes on what his keys are.
Henley practices his wedges in five-yard increments.
“If I can practice in fives, I can be confident and simple. I’ve got three or four swings with this wedge and three or four with another. That gives me a wide range I can adjust to.”
One of the best little stories was an insight he got from the legendary teacher Jim McLean. Whenever he hits a wedge shot, he always guesses the yardage of what he thinks it went distance-wise before checking on the launch monitor.
Play with Less Loft and More Control
From 100 yards, most of us grab their lob wedge and swing hard. Henley often does the opposite.
“Less loft gives me more consistency with spin and flight. Makes it easier.”
The key is to take spin off when you don’t need it. That means using a 50° or 55° wedge instead of the 60°, choking down, and hitting a smooth swing that comes in flatter.
What I've been up to this week...

And was able to catch some great presentations and soak up some insights from folks like Rick Sessinghaus, Bill Harmon, Dave Phillips, Jamie Mulligan and more.
