What happened to Armlock Putters?

It's 4:34 AM and my 3 year old has insisted we watch golf... and he will only watch videos that have Rory in it.

Master's highlights it is.

What a start to a Thursday!

➡️ BLACK FRIDAY DEALS
(I'd be checking out right now)

Prime Putt Matt: Every golfer needs a putting matt at home or the office. The key is having one that you actually leave set up so you use it. I think the Prime Putt is the best option if you need something that will work on soft carpet and want it to look nice. Black Friday sale is going on now.

Sunday Golf
has 15% off all their golf bags. The Storm Ryder was my go to this summer.

Why Golf
has all their training aids on sale for Black Friday right now!

NEW PODCAST - What happened to the armlock putter?

We're still in the alt putting series on the podcast. In this episode I wanted to learn about the first big attempt to make Armlock putting mainstream.

It was the Matt Kuchar signature from Bettinardi that launched in 2013. I had on Sam Bettinardi to talk about it (fun fact his first role at the company was to sell this putter when it launched).

🙌 Well Played:
This Week’s Top Finds:

🤯 I've never had a video make me so frustrated. The ease at which Kyle Berkshire swings it 130mph club speed is CRAZY. Goes to show the value of pushing up your max and how everything else comes easier.

🇨🇦 I want to take a Canada golf trip after watching this. Great new series from Skratch and Mac Boucher.

My latest experiment : Snoring

Non-golf related but hopefully interesting?!

I've received some complaints about my snoring over the years.

My sleep scores on Whoop are generally pretty good so it wasn't really a sleep quality thing.

But I wanted to figure out if I could improve it.

We first start with data. Found this great app to track it called SnoreLab.

You set it next to your bed and it'll track your snoring and score it for you.

I set a baseline over a few days and then started testing things..

The best thing so far has just been the classic nasal strip. Honestly it helps me breathe so much better I don't want to take it off in the morning.

And my snore scores have gotten better.

Need to keep testing more things but this has been a fun mini experiment to work on.

MYTH OF THE WEEK

Myth #4: You should only work on mechanics at the range.

Truth: It's time you start working on mechanics at home no matter if you have a simulator set up or not!

This one surprises a lot of golfers. Dr Luke Benoit talks about why he actually prefers you don’t work on mechanics at the range.

Why? The ball ruins everything.

  • Learn new movements at home with video or a mirror.
  • Use foam balls to test your new motion without pressure.
  • Once the movement looks right, then hit real balls.

His students online often improve faster than those in person because they separate learning from hitting.

(every week we're going to share an interesting myth and truth from Dr Luke Benoit from Ryp Golf. Fascinating ideas that will make you think.)

Road to 190 updates:

Literally nothing has happened on the road to 190 since the last newsletter. 😭

Wrist has gotten sore. Not an injury I've had before. Just kind of randomly started for no specific reason since I've started training.

I've really just been resting it, stretching, trying to get it back to normal

Have only hit probably 24-30 drivers over the last week

I think I'm close to getting back to it. Hoping this weekend I can hit at least 24 drives and get stronger.

Have a great week!

This summer I was tied for the lead during the club championship. Then I stepped up to the tee box on the 6th hole... and everything unraveled. (it was bad) So I brought Will Robins back to the scene of the crime. ☠️ We stood on that same tee box and he taught me - a pre-shot routine built to hold up when the pressure hits.
