I remember the first version, (the white 3.0 in the photo), I got back before COVID and then wore it during COVID as they were one of the only ways of early detection. Crazy to think about.
Left to right - 3.0, 4.0, 5.0
I just bought the new 5.0 and had some good realizations after looking at the app and trying to figure some things out.
I’ve been feeling exhausted in the mornings… because I am exhausted. Turns out going to bed late and waking up early with kids is a bad combo. Who knew. Sometimes it takes some measuring and data to become aware of the obvious. So I've been moving bedtime up and it's really helped.
My daily strain was NOT ENOUGH. Office work + running kids around = not enough strain. Golf actually helps a ton here. You'd be shocked at how much strain a quick 9 will get you.
So what's new with the 5.0?
Battery life is longer, app has a new feature called "healthspan" giving you a whoop age.
Physically the product seems the same size and weight as the 4.0 when wearing and comparing them.
(FYI - Not an ad, actually paying to wear it. Just wanted to confirm this for you 😂)
If you want to compete against me join our Whoop Team. I found I had an old Golf Science Lab team I had created and updated it. You can keep me accountable and see if my 4 month old is letting me get any sleep or not 😁.
2 things to remember from this week's video with Will Robins
First of all, it's super fun to host Will here in MN, at my home club, Somerby in Byron!
Make sure to watch it as he dives into a way to reverse engineer your way into breaking 85.
But these concepts apply to far more than just those trying to break 85.
Here are 2 universal truths.
#1 The math is simple: 95 - (GIR × 2) = your score.
Six greens gets you to 83. If you’re already hitting 6+ greens but still shooting 90+, stop grinding your swing. Your problem isn’t approach shots, it’s three-putts, chunked chips, and blow-up holes. Do the math on your handicap and add up your GIR total.
Curious about this formula, 95 - (GIR × 2) = your score? 👇
I did some digging and it's called Riccio's Rule based on it's author, Dr. Lucius Riccio, a Columbia University professor who first presented it at the 1990 World Scientific Congress of Golf.

🙌 Well Played: This Week’s Top Finds:
🧪 I’ve had a LAB Golf putter in the bag for years, and even got to visit their HQ this past December. We filmed a fun little series where I tried to beat Sam Hahn on a putting course running through the factory. Hilarious day.
I'm late to the party, but "Outlive" by Dr. Peter Attia is brilliant..
It's not just another diet or workout plan. He actually breaks down the medical research first, explains why your body works the way it does, then gives you the actionable stuff.
(FYI - this isn't a light read you can casually skim)
Most health books skip straight to "do this, eat that" without helping you understand the why behind it all.
I'm about half way through and really enjoying it. Would recommend!
Till next week,
-Cordie

I'm curious which one of these myths challenge a concept you believe? I can almost guarantee there's one in there because I was definitely questioning a few of them... All right, here’s a controversial myth that we talked about in this weeks video. Curious what you think about this one... “Always go through your full pre-shot routine when practicing. That’s how you simulate the course.” Sounds logical, right? If you want to play like you're on the course, you should practice like you're on the course. But Dr. Luke Benoit says: myth.
