The easiest way to erase DOUBLES from your scorecard

Today I want to share with you a course management strategy that has changed the way I think about golf.

My good friend Will Robins created it over ten years ago, and I wish every golfer knew it!

It breaks the game into two games that take double bogeys off your card and help you shoot lower scores immediately.

Whether you’re trying to break 90 or push for 70, it works.

We played three holes together so he could walk me (and you) through the system in real time. DON'T MISS THIS ONE!

The Scoring Method Cheat Sheet

It starts with breaking each hole down into Two Games

  1. Enter the Scoring Zone
    • Goal: Get inside 100 yards in two shots (par 4), three (par 5), or one (par 3).
    • If you’re inside 100, you earn a βœ”οΈ.
    • Keep the ball in play at all costs.
  2. Down in the Scoring Zone
    • Once in the zone, your job is to get on the green and two-putt.
    • βœ”οΈ = bogey at worst. And you'll probably make some pars as well.
    • Think β€œconservative target, confident swing.”

Here's the deal - If you can play 18 holes with only check marks, you’ll eliminate doubles and shoot lower scores. It's a simple concept but hard to execute on.

One of our families best part of the summer was PGA Junior League.

I asked my course super last minute if my 7-year-old could join PGA Junior League and they said yes. Best decision I’ve made in golf as a parent.

The setup is simple: Each course has a team and they compete against other courses in matches. They play in two-person scramble teams for 9 holes with, three-hole matches, and flags to win.

The matches go quickly and everyone stays in a good mood with the scramble format.

Parents walk along, cheer, and actually enjoy it too.

My son looked forward to every match and came out a huge golf fan.

Couldn't recommend it enough! Go get your kid involved next year.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ¨ It's crazy to me that a putter with hand drawn on alignment markings won the Tour Championship. Hey... Tommy found what he likes and it's working.

➑️ Same putter... But very very different.

Highlight of my golfing year was a hole-in-one this past weekend! And it was even during the club championship.

It was just so freaking cool to watch.

150 yards downwind. Hit a gap wedge. Watched it land behind the flag and spin back into the hole.

Chaos ensued.

I'm a happy guy.

I've been waiting 20 years for my second hole in one.

I would recommend it. Keep firing at flags on those par 3's 😁

I put together a list of all the random things that I've found essential and most useful this summer! Sun Sleeves. Honestly I think everyone should be wearing these. They keep you cooler and avoid sunburn. I start to panic now if I can’t find them before going out to play. I've been wearing this random bike brand. Magnolia sunscreen. They sponsored the newsletter earlier this year and I’m glad they did. I had never had a nice face sunscreen before. Now I use it every day I’m going outside....

I've been trying to track my golf game pretty religiously this year. Making notes about my practice sessions and tournaments. Trying to make observations about my swing thoughts, patterns, and what I've been doing. I've been doing it in this app called Day One, which I use for all my daily journaling and logging, but it's getting cluttered and hard to sort through. Curious what you all do? I'd love to know. Hit reply and let me know. And then read on for the rest of this week's Golf Well...
