Coach Will Answers Critics: Does the Scoring Method Really Work?

video preview

Our original video with Will has been watched by a ton of people, and there have been some great comments.

People saying it is awesome and then we've got some major critics. I wanted to hear what Will would say so we hopped on a quick podcast and talked through it.

Here are some of the comments we answered!

  • "I've never understood when people say keep it in play as if I have a choice in the matter. I'm not deliberately smacking it into the trees."

  • "18 handicap, I already play this way and I still double and triple all day long. I can't execute simple shots 40% of the time."

  • "Just shot a 78 this morning. Breaking 80 for the first time in ages... Takes the pressure off."

  • "Had me until put away the driver. The biggest difference between a 90 shooter and 70s is distance off the tee."

  • "Basically golf sidekick with a British accent and without the silly costumes and not as much fun." πŸ˜‚

As always, a subscribe or follow on your favorite podcast platform would be greatly appreciated as we work hard to make these awesome and continue to improve them this year. 😁

πŸ’ͺ Sometimes working out feels impossible. I love simple frameworks like this: Get some dumbbells, put them in your office.

Great advice from newsletter reader!

I had a nice email exchange with a reader of the newsletter who had qualified for 8 USGA mid-am and senior AMs over the years.

I was curious... as someone who would like to do those things... how do you play great competitive golf as a mid am over a long period of time? And I loved his answer, so thought I'd share it today. Big thank you to Mitch Wilson!

Your question about longevity and competition is an interesting one. Kind of got me thinking. The #1 thing is staying healthy. I have been fortunate in that my joints are still in good shape and I exercise regularly.

My routine includes the Man Flow Yoga program, TRX suspension training and Ryp trainer, lots of biking, and walking golf courses every chance I get (stay out of the cart)!

As for playing, the top priorities are keeping the driver in play, and being good with wedges, putting, and chipping. The majority of my practice time is in those areas.

I am also a big fan of Rotella's rules, and a student of Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott's "Be A Player". I really feel one of my competitive advantages is my mental toughness. I think you have to focus just as much on that as on the physical nature of the game.

Thanks for sharing, Mitch!

😳 Random things I like

Saxx underwear - Just got my first pair. These things are awesome. Recommended.

Whoop update - The battery life difference between the 4.0 and 5.0 is stunningly significant. You barely have to charge the 5.0, it lasts forever. Didn't expect this to be a big deal... but it is.

Tour Aim - I just got the TourAim training aid and took it out to the range. Realized just how many things this can do. It has configurations for:
1. Alignment
2. Swing plane
3. Putting setup

Legit no-brainer training aid that is really compact to travel with. Easy recommendation for any level golfer.

They even gave me a discount code that I can pass on to you guys, so this thing is affordable. GOLFWELL15

Hey, thanks for reading. Appreciate you!

As always, we'll be back next Thursday.
