I finally learned a Pre-Shot Routine that actually WORKS!

This summer I was tied for the lead during the club championship.

Then I stepped up to the tee box on the 6th hole... and everything unraveled. (it was bad)

So I brought Will Robins back to the scene of the crime. ☠️

We stood on that same tee box and he taught me - a pre-shot routine built to hold up when the pressure hits.

This might be the most important video of my golf season:

If you need convincing to watch this here are a few things you'll learn.

  • The 3-step pre-shot routine tour players use when the nerves hit
  • Why your “swing thoughts” are the wrong thing to focus on
  • How to reset after mistakes so you never spiral mid-round
  • The scoring system that trains commitment, not perfection

Watch the video and then save this one pager template so you can go through the system next time you're playing.

💪 Michael Brennan won this week in Utah. He bombs it and is incredibly strong. Here's some workout inspiration that'll make you want to head to the gym

💪💪 Speaking of working out - James Nicolas hit 190mph ball speed and did a great video showing off everything it's taken for him to get there.

🎙️ Published a NEW PODCAST in our "alt putting series" with the legend, David Orr. He make a case for why broomstick putting is the SIMPLEST option out there. Listen here to find out why.

The PENGUIN drill 🐧

Saw Dave Phillips describing how to set up to the driver and it just MADE SENSE.

  • Start with your feet together ball in-between feet (off the lead heel)
  • Pick up your back foot and set it down softly where it would be for your driver stance.
  • When it lands, feel more pressure on your back leg and your front leg a bit straighter. Probably about 60/40 pressure with more on the back foot.
  • Don't do any excessive tilting or shifting.
  • Your ready to go.

It's so simple but works so well. Great vid from Me and My Golf with tons of other good insights.

MYTH OF THE WEEK

Myth #2: Fix your swing before you train speed.

Truth: Train speed while you’re fixing your swing.

Dr Luke Benoit’s advice: don’t wait.
If you can make a solid backswing and set the table right, go as fast as you can on the way down.

  • Do “freezer” drills to pause at the top, then swing fast.
  • Learning to move at full speed improves coordination and sequencing.
  • Don’t try to make it perfect first, learning at speed is part of learning movement.

(every week we're going to share an interesting myth and truth from Dr Luke Benoit from Ryp Golf. Fascinating ideas that will make you think.)

Have a great rest of your week!

We'll be back next week with a new guest and video on the channel. 😁

Justin Kraft showed me something that made me immediately pull up my own swing on video. There are two distinct wrist patterns on tour. 60% of pros use one. 20% use another (60+20=100% 🧐 ). Once you know which pattern you fall into, a lot of other stuff starts to click. Here's what's in this newsletter: The two wrist patterns (and which one you should probably learn) Jake Knapp's wedge drill that might injure you Some unexpected speed gains I made this week A Mumford and Sons endorsement...
