Ultimate Guide to Hitting Wedges from 30-100 yards

We have done some awesome videos over the past year on hitting great wedge shots. Vids with guys like Mark Blackburn, Jon Sinclair, and Claude Harmon III.

I've found distance control wedges as something that's really difficult for me. And something I constantly need to work on.

So...

I was wondering if I pulled all that together what would stand out and how useful it would be to review all the ideas as we practice.

So I did... View the full resource doc here.

πŸ™Œ Well Played:
This Week’s Top Finds:

πŸ’ͺ Here's what JT and friend of the channel Kolby Tullier are working on in the gym.

πŸ‘“ I bought some Meta Ray Ban's. Check out this perspective of hitting different putters. You can see what it's like to actually hit a Broomstick.

I loved Big Break and have no idea why it went away. PUMPED to watch it come back.

πŸŽ™οΈ I've gotten some great comments from the Lucas Glover podcast from last week. It had some really interesting stories and insights. Give it a listen.

πŸ‘ Great to see friend of the channel Alex Fitzpatrick finish t3 at the DP World India Championship! If you missed the videos we did with him earlier this year check them out here.

TGL season 2 updates released

Call me a nerd but I was excited to see this news drop and read through the updates they're making. πŸ™‚

Here's the summary of what's they've done...

  • GreenZone Renovation (by Beau Welling Design):
    • Putting surface increased by 38% (from 3,800 β†’ 5,270 sq. ft.)
    • 12 hole locations, up from 7 in Season 1
    • 608 actuators (up from 567) for more undulation and variety
  • Bunker Changes:
    • One bunker removed
    • Remaining two bunkers 50% larger
  • Team Holes Introduced:
    • Each of the six teams now has an official Team Hole πŸ‘€
    • Customized visuals and terrain to match each team’s home region
  • Updated Graphics Engine:
    • Full Swing upgraded to Unity 6 with HDRP
    • Delivers more realistic lighting, detail, and depth

Honestly - All of these ideas answer a lot of the questions and concerns I had after last season.

Bigger green was key.

New graphics look promising.

And the team holes seem like an epic ideaπŸ”₯

Can't wait for some TGL again this winter!

MYTH OF THE WEEK

Myth #1: Swing your swing every time.

Truth: You should learn to swing lots of different ways.

Dr. Luke Benoit calls this one β€œa total myth.” The best players aren’t repeating one perfect motion, they’re learning how to move the club in many ways.

  • Especially when you’re young, you want to hit shots from all kinds of positions.
  • Hockey players are great at golf because they learn to hit from everywhere β€” high, low, in tight, out wide.
  • If you can hit the heel and the toe on purpose, you’ll find the middle much easier.

Skill comes from range, not repetition.

(every week we're going to share an interesting myth and truth from Dr Luke Benoit from Ryp Golf. Fascinating ideas that will make you think.)

Hope you have a great week!

Have a question or topic I should look into?! Send me a message. Would love to hear what you're thinking about it.

Justin Kraft showed me something that made me immediately pull up my own swing on video. There are two distinct wrist patterns on tour. 60% of pros use one. 20% use another (60+20=100% 🧐 ). Once you know which pattern you fall into, a lot of other stuff starts to click. Here's what's in this newsletter: The two wrist patterns (and which one you should probably learn) Jake Knapp's wedge drill that might injure you Some unexpected speed gains I made this week A Mumford and Sons endorsement...
