These Drills are the FASTEST Way to Change Your Golf Swing

I truly believe the stuff in this week's episode is going to DRAMATICALLY help your swing.

It's with a coach we haven't seen on the channel in 7+years?! And one of my favorite guys to hang out with.

If you're like me you're going to be trying these practical drills while your watching along with the video. Don't miss it!

Long-time Huel guy! Glad to have them as a sponsor.

Usually I'm running to make a tee time or cramming a range session into an afternoon, and eating kind of takes a back seat.

Huel is the best option! Highly recommend it

Is a Resistance Band the Secret to FINALLY Fixing Your Swing? 👀

This weeks guest on the show is Jackson Koert

I'd seen Jackson posting tons of videos on Instagram of his students using resistance bands to make some great swing changes.

So I went down to Jacksonville, Florida, to Atlantic Beach Country Club, where he's based, to investigate. And boy did we learn some good stuff.

Jackson summed up the whole approach in one line:

"If you want to change your swing, it's way easier to change your body, or change how your body moves. And then you can let that creep into your golf swing."

What has stuck with me after filming this video...

I do the pivot punch drill for the backswing and through swing all the time now, even without a band. I'll run it as part of my warm-up, or as a practice swing to get that feel. It's really really helped.

What else is in the full video

  • The drill that stops your head from dropping in the backswing
  • A band setup that kills the hip slide most amateurs never feel
  • The early-extension fix that keeps you in posture without thinking about it
  • The "lawnmower" that gave my swing an effortless feeling.

If you've hung out around this channel long enough, you probably remember Jackson from the Golf Science Lab days. Did a bunch of videos with him back then.

And if you need to pick up a band, check out Tony Ruggiero's Dew Sweeper Pivot Pack. It's got a band plus a few other tools that'll help you pivot better.

Wedge Practice on a Budget

Everybody wants to get better at their wedges.

But almost nobody practices them well enough to actually get better.

Step 1. Practice with a launch monitor.

Honestly, it can be as simple as just giving you a carry distance.

This past weekend I wanted to test two affordable options under $300, to make sure the data was good and they'd actually be useful.

Both the Shot Scope LM1 and the Stack were almost identical on every single shot on the carry distance. I'd say both are great options.

If I'm picking one, I'd go with the Stack. Just for the app. The wedge games and the testing you can do in there are great

Step 2. Write down what you learn.

Full swing, 3/4, half. What's the average you're seeing for each of your wedges?

Write it down and keep it in your bag.

If you don't, you're going to forget it. I can guarantee that.

Thanks for being a GolfWell subscriber and hanging out with me on a weekly basis!

I genuinely hope the stuff here is helping you play better golf week after week.

Also, I'm pretty sure this 👇 is unrelated, but you never know, so stay safe with your resistance bands out there.

Have a great week!

People ask me for golf advice all the time. And I usually end up sharing a lot of the same stuff... everything I've picked up from these great coaches over the years. So I finally wrote it all down. I desperately wish I'd had this list when I was a junior golfer trying to play competitively. *plus at the end of this email I explain a new podcast series you're going to love. 😁 In this issue: Wind is a number changer, not a club changer. Here's the math. Most practice swings are useless. What...

I did not clearly understand the fundamentals of a good stock chip shot. Not sure why I had never learned this but it's been INCREDIBLY helpful. Ralph Bauer fixed that in about ten minutes. Let's get into it. In this issue: One setup tweak, way better contact on chips. 52 days out and I finally learned how to run. I can almost guarantee you've done this. You play great golf with your buddies. Feeling good. Then you show up to a tournament and it's like you've never held a golf club before. My first hole of my first tournament - I three-putted from 4.5 feet and hacked it around from there. Called Coach Will Robins immediately after. So naturally we recorded it.Also kicking off a brand new series this week. I'm training for the US Speed Golf Open. No I don't run. 😂 We'll get into it. In this issue:...
