My speed journey started in 2024. I set out to hit 180 mph ball speed. I was able to reach it faster than I thought was was hooked. 2024 was an information blitz. I learned from some of the best coaches in the world and started to understand what actually creates speed in the golf swing. Then I spent a day in the gym with Kolby Tullier late in 2024. That gym session was humbling. It exposed something I had been avoiding for years. My body was holding me back. Badly. A lack lower-body strength and stability. No matter how good my intent was, no matter how much I understood the swing, I was leaking speed because my body couldnβt support it. Thatβs what led to the 2025 goal.β I started the year motivated. I worked out. I did speed training once or twice a week. I made some gains and could tell I was getting stronger. (I tracked 65 workouts through the year and probably missed some) Then summer hit. I stopped training completely. I played a lot of golf. Kids had sports. Life was busy. No speed training. No time in the gym. β Just a classic case of realizing if I wanted to hit my goal I was actually going to have to start doing some stuff. I started strong. Tons of training in Nov. Then I had a video shoot we had to travel to. Went to Bandon. Family was in town for the holidays. No training in Dec. That last session was wild. What do I think you should know... Setting a speed goal changed my life. Back in 2024... I was tired of the normal goals. (Lower my average score by XYZ, or qualify for a certain am tournament) I chose speed because it was something I could control. Scores and tournament results you can't. You can do everything right and still just have a bad round. There can still be someone else who has a career day and beats you. Speed goals are different. I can train. I can work on my body. I can prepare. The outcome is directly tied to the work. It changed how I eat. How I think about recovery. How I treat my body. Because I realized something quickly.... If youβre going to chase speed without taking care of yourself, youβre going to get hurt. The goal forces responsibility. Thatβs why I think itβs a beautiful goal. It connects everything. Swing technique. Training protocols. Body strength. Consistency. Nutrition. Recovery. Miss one piece and the whole thing breaks down. My biggest regret is simple. I wasnβt consistent enough. I canβt help but wonder how far along Iβd be if I had just done more training week after week. I have so many more ideas and things I want to test and learn about. Next week... I'll share the plan for this year and how you can get involved π

I found a study + some data this week that every single golfer needs to think about. It's simple to understand and you can put it into practice TOMORROW. Here's what's in this newsletter: 35 out of 40 golfers chipped better this way. The arm-lock hybrid grip. Justin Kraft showed me something that made me immediately pull up my own swing on video. There are two distinct wrist patterns on tour. 60% of pros use one. 20% use another (60+20=100% π§ ). Once you know which pattern you fall into, a lot of other stuff starts to click.
