I kept asking. Here's what I found...

I can't stop asking people how they gain speed.

Gym work, recovery, what drills they actually do... I just have so many questions. Hope you're not tired of it because I'm not done. ๐Ÿ˜

In this issue:

  • Eddie's gym work and recovery secrets at 55
  • Scott Fawcett responds to the best questions from our videos
  • The future of indoor golf might be closer than you think
  • Matt Fitzpatrick's pre-shot shrug... most unique routine on tour?

Your putting mat is flat. The course isn't.

The PuttOut AirBreak Max has air bags under the green to create real slopes you can adjust.

It's the closest thing to practicing actual green reading at home.

It's where I spend the most time practicing at home!

Eddie Fernandes deep dive on his speed gains

If you enjoyed last weeks speed training episode with Fast Eddie... We just dropped a podcast where I asked him some specific questions on training, recovery, and how he came up with HIITS.

Gym Work

  • Go-to exercise: single-leg RDLs on a Bosu ball. Says this did more for his speed than 315lb squats.
  • Big on adductor strength. Most golfers are shockingly weak pulling in vs. pushing out. Fixed that, speed jumped.
  • Sumo squats, landmine squats pushing through the balls of his feet, rotational work that mimics the swing.
  • Stopped doing sprints and box jumps. Single-leg stability work helped more.

Recovery

  • Epsom salt baths with magnesium.
  • Sauna 4 days a week, 20-30 minutes.
  • The sea salt trick: put it on your tongue, let it dissolve 5-10 seconds, chase with water. Did this 6-8 times during the 2024 Worlds in 100-degree heat. Felt fresh in the afternoon and won his third title.

Scott Fawcett replied to all the comments?

I guess it's just a week of podcasts! We did another podcast last week with Scott Fawcett replying to all the comments from the two videos we released with him.

Answered some questions like:

  • "All this theory is worth nothing if you can't pull off the shots from the tee"
  • "Middle of the green is great for bogey golfers, not for scratch"
  • "Has anyone actually improved? Decade is the emperor's new clothes of golf"
  • "Should you amend bogey from 150 to your own 9-iron distance?"
  • "If I hit a low draw in the wind, how does that change the formula?"

I did not clearly understand the fundamentals of a good stock chip shot. Not sure why I had never learned this but it's been INCREDIBLY helpful. Ralph Bauer fixed that in about ten minutes. Let's get into it. In this issue: One setup tweak, way better contact on chips. 52 days out and I finally learned how to run. I can almost guarantee you've done this. You play great golf with your buddies. Feeling good. Then you show up to a tournament and it's like you've never held a golf club before. My first hole of my first tournament - I three-putted from 4.5 feet and hacked it around from there. Called Coach Will Robins immediately after. So naturally we recorded it.Also kicking off a brand new series this week. I'm training for the US Speed Golf Open. No I don't run. ๐Ÿ˜‚ We'll get into it. In this issue:...
