I've been setting up my chips wrong

I did not clearly understand the fundamentals of a good stock chip shot.

Not sure why I had never learned this but it's been INCREDIBLY helpful.

Ralph Bauer fixed that in about ten minutes. Let's get into it.

In this issue:

  • One setup tweak, way better contact on chips.
  • 52 days out and I finally learned how to run.
  • Jake Knapp hits every PXG iron (the sole design part was interesting)
  • Keith Mitchell's practice round, and why he never putts par putts

New way to think about your SET UP on your stock chip shot

Ralph Bauer took me through a lesson that will help every one of you!

I wanted to get the simple step-by-step instructions for hitting a stock chip shot

So, he taught me how to set up with a new way to think about it (not ball position)

And then simplified everything, so I have a few steps to think about

You got to watch this and try it out

🙌 Well Played:
This Week’s Top Finds:

🏌️‍♂️ Fully Equipped crew had Jake Knapp hit all the different models of the PXG irons. Pretty interesting idea and they dive into the importance of the sole design.

🎥 This is just a good fun watch.

💬 Bryson talking with AI about...

"I was talking to AI quite a bit last night trying to go through some different physics principles that makes the club turn over, having some alpha torque and gamma torque put in there.
I was like, what makes that possibly do that, and was talking about just grip pressure and tension."

I mean you might think this is crazy... but damn... I feel like I could find myself in this same rabbit hole one day. 😂

⚽️ I got a good chuckle out of this thread. For all you soccer folks out there (footballers) sorry.

Speed Golf Update:

I have 52 days until I am playing in the U.S. Speed Golf Open.

Which means I have to run 4 or 5 miles and play golf at the same time.

My goal is 75 or under in less than 60 minutes

The score I have no problem with it's just the time thing 😂. I don't run at all.

I started on May 1st with my first run.

Today I ran my longest run yet AND at my best pace yet.

I'm feeling way better about things.

This might sound ridiculous but my biggest breakthrough has been physically changing how I run, which sounds crazy.

(Sorry if I sound like an idiot to all the runners out there)

I realized I was never using my glutes to propel myself forward, and I was landing heel-to-toe.

Been working with my friend who is a PT, Chris Mundt (we did a video with him last year) and the difference has been huge.

Next up is actually trying to play speed golf for the first time. I'm headed to Kentucky end of the month to learn from a couple legends of the sport. We'll report on that here towards the end of June

SHOUT OUT: to Garmin for sponsoring this series. GI can't recommend getting a Garmin watch enough! The best thing I've used for fitness tracking and on the golf course.

Keith Mitchell goes IN-DEPTH on his Practice Round

This video and concept was AWESOME. Great job PGA Tour and Mizuno. This is how you do content + brand integration.

Just a chill not overly edited 9 holes with Keith Mitchell... I mean he honestly like explained his whole mindset and what he's working on.

Few quotes that I thought were interesting...

"I never putt par putts in practice rounds. Never want to make a bogey if I don't have to. But we will putt out the birdie putts."

Idk how I feel about this. Love the idea of never making a bogey. But also you never putt any short putts. What do you think?

"When a little bit of grass gets in between the grooves and the ball, it takes some spin off of it, but maintains the ball speed... it goes 10, 15, sometimes even 20 yards farther than normal."

"Never a bad thing in practice rounds to miss a bunch of greens so you can practice your short game, see how the ball is reacting, and work on your chipping."

Have a great week!

I can almost guarantee you've done this. You play great golf with your buddies. Feeling good. Then you show up to a tournament and it's like you've never held a golf club before. My first hole of my first tournament - I three-putted from 4.5 feet and hacked it around from there. Called Coach Will Robins immediately after. So naturally we recorded it.Also kicking off a brand new series this week. I'm training for the US Speed Golf Open. No I don't run. 😂 We'll get into it. In this issue:...
