Crazy new wedge data + 4 reminders

Idk about you but I can't wait to watch some golf this week.

Been too a handful of Players tournaments and firmly believe it's one of the best places to watch golf. Everything about it is awesome.

But... Before you turn the tournament on today you have to check out our new video.

Ping did a crazy wedge study using their research grade 3d system and learned some surprising info about angle of attack.

They let me hit some shots in their lab and learn the whole story!

Today at a Glance

  • Strange Ping wedge research.
  • Win a Rapsodo MLM2PRO.
  • 3 favorite videos from last week.
  • My big 4 reminders to make your practice better to prep for the season.

What Ping uncovered with their new wedge study

Ping just proved that in 86% of wedge shots have ground contact before hitting the ball... Yeah, seriously.

And the one number your launch monitor shows for AOA might be misleading.

They even did some wild stuff like blindfolding elite golfers, pulling balls out from under them mid-swing (a real-life Charlie Brown moment), and tracking exactly how the club moves through impact.

Curious yet?

Go watch this new video and get all the insights from my trip into the Ping Lab.

👀 Few things to check out

Few things I've found around the web this week that you should as well...

📉 Scott Fawcett did a deep dive on the data behind Jake Knapp's 59 a couple weeks ago. He pulled out all the shot data and talks us through what we can learn from it.

🏋 I love every TPI video but the latest one with Wyndham Clark was top notch. I got hooked in for the entire thing and want to go watch it again. Need to sit down with the notebook and really soak it all in.

🎥 Grant Horvat is making the most entertaining golf vids right now. The latest 2v2 with him and Phil Mickelson vs the Daly's was great as expected. The banter is legendary.

4 reminders for your next practice session...

Here are a few practice reminders so you get the most out of your time as you try to get ready for the coming season.

1️⃣ THE BIG MYTH is that making errors in practice is going to promote making more errors in performance, however an effective learning environment is going to challenge the learner and a byproduct of that is mistakes.

Mistakes and failure are part of the learning process!

2️⃣ Focus on Long-term Learning, Not Short-term Performance: Don’t worry too much about how well you perform during practice.

Instead, focus on challenging yourself to optimize long-term learning.

3️⃣ Too much or too little difficulty during your practice then the learning is minimized.

The goal is to be optimally challenged for success during the round, and not success during practice

4️⃣ Seek the Sweet Spot of Challenge: Aim for a 65 to 70 percent success rate in your practice.

It's okay to fail about 30-35 percent of the time, as it helps in long-term learning.

Thanks for reading this far!

Hope you like this weeks video.

We'll have another new one next week!

We're going to be sticking with our Wednesday afternoon release schedule.

Till next week,

-Cordie

Last week we talked about what has happened over my speed journey the last 2 years. TODAY... the speed plan for 2026. (plus at the end of this email... an update on something that really cool that came in the mail that I've been working on for the past 11 months) Here are the number goals... Ball Speed2026: 188 → 200 (+12 mph) Club Speed2026: 130 → 140 (+10 mph) 👀 😳 oh boy Yea that might seem ridiculous but I actually think it's in reach if I can do one thing... STAY CONSISTENT. So the...

It's goal setting season!! Anyone else get excited about this as I do 😂 Do you set golf goals? Yes! No I should but don't. For me the review of 2025 was the most fun. It was really cool to dive into all the data behind the speed training I've been doing. I broke all that down and exactly what I've learned over the last two years! Let's get into it... (Plus we have a new podcast about answering the critics of a recent video I'll get to down at the bottom of this email) SPONSORED CONTENT The...
