Bored with practice? Will Robins gave me four ways to make it harder. (And it comes from this weeks podcast.)

4 ways to train ugly:

1. Play 9 holes of worst-ball golf.
Hit two shots, play the worse one. Be realistic, not optimistic. When we think we’re better than we are, we take on risky shots and make bad choices. That’s delusional golf.

2. Play 9 holes from 200 yards.
Every hole. Count how many times you get down in 3 or 4.

3. Hit the shot you’re scared of.
Will calls it the nutter game. Aim out of bounds and hit it there. Aim at the water and hit it there. On purpose. It takes the fear out of it and shows you what playing with total freedom feels like.

4. Only 5-iron off the tee.
Learn to score with what you’ve got. Keep it in play for 18 holes. Don’t lose a single ball off the tee.

🚨NEW PODCAST:

Will Robins took a college golfer shooting 78 to the first tee and told him to hit driver straight out of bounds. He did.

On 2, Will told him to hit it in the water. He did that too.

Every shot Will called, Zack hit.

He didn’t have a swing problem. He had a tension problem.

That’s how this week’s podcast starts. Listen here

What we got into

  • Why Will says golf isn’t mental. It’s emotional.
  • Why your swing works on the range and disappears in a tournament
  • Why you should go to the course more pessimistic, not less
  • Golf as a P&L: cut the expenses before you chase more revenue

🙌 Well Played:
This Week’s Top Finds:

🛠️ I just got my hands on the new Tour Aim 3.0. They made some really nice upgrades with the quality of the materials and added a path option, which is pretty cool.

💻 Skytrak just came out with a new upgrade to their software platform. I already think they have one of the best software programs out there, and some of their upgrades were pretty useful. Here are the details.

✈️ DO NOT watch this video. If you do you will start looking at your calendar and figuring out the soonest time you can go to Scotland.

🎥 Rick Shiels did a video on the new PuttView app. Great explanation and showing how to use it. Worth a watch.
