Driver SHOT SHAPE research + Exclusive Access at Ping

Had lunch with my wife today.

Looked her in the eyes and told her dead serious… it’s the best week of the year.

She lit up. Music to her ears.

Pretty sure she thought it was because of her birthday.

But I was telling the truth.

It’s Masters week.

Either way… let’s have a good one.

😂 (this joke was wife approved. Pretty proud of myself)

Anyways...

We made an epic video summarizing 48 hours at Ping.

Everything from the production line floor, to the tour room, more great research with Dr Paul Wood

“Should I hit a draw, a fade, or just try to hit it dead straight?”

I asked that exact question during a session with Dr. Paul Wood at PING HQ. The answer?

It’s not what you think and it might completely flip how you approach the driver.

Here’s the short version:

  • You don’t need a different swing to hit a draw or fade. Ping Man, their robot, used the exact same motion. The only change? Face angle.
  • There's no biomechanical advantage to any one shot shape. Fade, draw, straight - it's about what’s repeatable and fits your launch and spin.
  • Does having a shot shape reduce your misses? It’s mostly in your head. Physics doesn’t care if it curves left or right.
  • We also tried to figure out how far out of the center we had to move the strike to lose 10 yards on a drive. I was shocked.

If you’re chasing distance, consistency, or just trying to figure out your “go-to” tee shot, this is worth watching.

👋 The putter grips of Scottie over the years. Saw this during the Tuesday live from the range. Interesting.

🎥 Loved the "whats in the valuables" pouch segment with Adam Scott the Masters just put out. It's a good watch ⌚︎. Watch it here.

😮‍💨 This little snippet popped up about Rory's interaction with David Goggins on his "walk". Was a surprising little insight.

Today I want to share with you a course management strategy that has changed the way I think about golf. My good friend Will Robins created it over ten years ago, and I wish every golfer knew it! It breaks the game into two games that take double bogeys off your card and help you shoot lower scores immediately. Whether you’re trying to break 90 or push for 70, it works. We played three holes together so he could walk me (and you) through the system in real time. DON'T MISS THIS ONE! 🎥 Watch...
